Our Team

Our forty-strong team has extensive and varied experience in the financial services industry – and in particular in local and international settlement and securities lending. Staff qualifications and experience demonstrate their technical competence, and we continually train and coach employees to ensure operational competency and exceptional client care.

As an integrated team, we are always available to clients and believe in close and personalised relationships and hands-on servicing. Clients have direct and immediate access to Finsettle team members, including executive management. Although we work as an integrated team in servicing clients, there is strict segregation of duties to reduce risk, and ensure accuracy and efficiency.

FINSETTLE SERVICES MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

.	David Rodger Joint Chief Operating Officer David began his financial services career in Edinburgh in 1967 with Wood Mackenzie & Co. He moved to London in 1976 and then to SA in 1989 where he joined Silvis Barnard (the legacy firm of BJM). After gaining further local market experience with other companies, he rejoined the BJM Group in 2002. At Finsettle, his earlier function was managing international settlements. Having been with the Finsettle Management Committee team for seven years now, he is Joint Chief Operating Officer, services several broking clients, and is significantly involved with the transformation and expansion of our outsourcing business model.	Petro Vermeulen Joint Chief Operating Officer Compliance Officer Petro joined Finsettle in September 2005 as Chief Operating Officer. Petro is also the Compliance officer of Finsettle. With over 25 years experience in the stockbroking industry, her expertise in Custody and Settlement services adds immense value to our clients. She holds the JSE Compliance Certificate, and is a member of the Compliance Institute of South Africa. Petro is actively involved in the ongoing training of our staff to required standards.

Ted Hampson Head of Business Development Ted has over 20 years of business, marketing, sales and senior management experience in a diverse range of sectors, including services, retail, training and financial services. He is a member of The International Business Development Institute; Institute of Directors (South Africa); and Institute of Marketing Management.	Marietjie Serfontein Business Development Manager Marietjie is a chartered accountant and joined Finsettle in 2010. Her accounting traineeship was with Deloitte where she serviced international clients and worked in the Isle of Man. She was an account executive with the IQ Business Group, which she joined in 2002, and her clients included large banking groups and government. She has specific financial services experience in Transactions and Deposits, Securities and Custodial Services, Money Laundering and Basel II Pillar 3 Public Disclosure.	Umesh Vaga Head: Securities Lending & IT Umesh joined the BJM Group in 1997. He holds a National Diploma in Computer Systems Engineering and completed his in-service training at Reuters. He has also passed the Strate Compliance Officer and JSE Settlement Officer exams.

a	Elize Lubbe Personal Assistant to Finsettle Management Team Elize Lubbe is Personal Assistant to CEO Koos van Niekerk. She has a National Diploma-Private Secretary, from Technikon Pretoria, and during her career she has worked as Personal Assistant in several reputable listed and private companies. She is a member of the Professional Secretaries Association and the South African Secretaries and PA’s Association.
